Old Train Station at Lagos, Algarve, Portugal

Old Train Station at Lagos, Algarve, Portugal

From algarveresident.com: Inaugurated in 1922, the building is noted for its exquisite tile panels from the Sacavém factory. Because of this it has been classified as part of the nation’s cultural patrimony and the building’s external structure cannot be altered. Over the years, the station, which served as a link from Lagos to Faro, won many awards including a contest entitled “Stations with Life” due to its influential status in the town. In 2006, it finally closed to make way for the new train station located 200 meters away, which was part of a major revitalisation plan for the area.
